As ozcantravel said Confiteria La Ideal is a good place. There are many others, like "La Catedral" you can find many others in www.puntotango.com.ar . Instructors, I could recommend you my tango teachers or try http://www.eatango.org/

Hi Tangotime ~

This is kind of a random answer to your question, but I just finished reading the book "Tango" by Camille Cusumano. She travels to Buenos Aires to tango dance, and stays for about a year, I think, renting apartments and going to lots of different places to dance tango. Anyway, the book is full of places for tango and she also mentions names of certain teachers, as well as being an interesting story.
