Question

South Africa to Brazil by boat?

I have heard that it is possible to travel long distances on cargo ships (i.e. not a cruise) at pretty reasonable prices.

Does anyone know of any shipping company that takes non-crew between South Africa and Brazil?

Certain cargo ships may take passengers. It is never cheap. You have to begin with -
1. Find out which shipping ports sail to Brazilian ports, and when; and if it is a direct sail or they stop elsewhere before crossing the ocean.

2. How many days does it take and what amenities are offered. Cargo ships are pretty frugal in the accomodations and the meals.

My friend in the shipping industry forwarded this link -

I am sure you'll find more links by googling. The best strategy is to familiarize the local lay of the port :) ( South Africa)

Cheers.
