We just returned from Seoul, and I found two places that offer private tours. I hope this answer is not too late!
The first is "Seoul City Tour" (mail@seoulcitytour.net), recommended by our hotel. We went with them. Prices are about Kw 250,000 for a tour guide for 8 hours, plus the cost of the transportation; they accept cash on the day of the tour. [For transportation, expect about Kw 50,000 for 2-3 of you, as a private car can be used and the tour guide can do the driving; for more people, a van with a separate driver is required, at a much higher price.] Overall, we were satisfied, but not ecstatic with them. They seem very professional, promptly answered email, and worked with me to develop an itinerary. However, with all things, what you get depends on the quality of the tour guide, and so you don't know who you are going to get. We thought ours was decent, but not great. Note that this tour is pretty much EXACTLY 8 hours, they make sure to end on time, which is a bit frustrating when Seoul traffic acts up so you need to cut short the touring.
The second is "All4U Korea Tour" (email all4ukoreatour72@yahoo.co.jp -- yes, Japan!). I found this one via a google search. To contact them you fill out a web-based form and they email you back. [I forgot the URL.] They charge in US$, wanted US$350 for a full day (11 hours!!) for a *translator* (who will also drive), but will not explain things to you. Hiring a tour guide instead is an extra US$180. However, I got the feeling, but I'm not sure, that these prices are somewhat negotiable if you try... One more thing. They require a US$100 deposit via bank wire transfer or western union only. Now I'm not saying this place is a scam, but bank wire transfer or western union are notorious for being one-way payment options, and made me nervous.
