Hi Linala,
Perth is pretty easy to navigate. Alot of the best places to see in Perth can be accessed by train and if you plan to use public transport that would be my recommendation. The train lines are quite simple. They all meet centrally in Perth city. There is so much more to WA than Perth though and since you're planning to come for a month, it would definitely be worth heading along the coast, (depending on what time of year you are coming as to whether you go North or South) Margaret River and the southern wine region are gorgeous and shouldnt be missed.
If you are coming in the warmer summer months and you like beaches, Cottesloe Beach is definitely my favourite, and Rottnest Island has gorgeous beaches. Rottnest is a short ferry ride from Perth and is so beautiful and relaxing.
If you want any more info about anything feel free to ask... Perth is my home town so i'm happy to answer any questions you may have!!! I hope you have a lovely time here if i dont hear from you again.

Hey Linala,
Even though I'm a west aussie, born and bred, I rarely go to Perth and use it's public transport (hell, I live in the back end of nowhere, in a town with less than 1,500 people, and rarely use public transport full-stop! :P). Having said that, it is amazingly easy to find your way around Perth using its public transport, so long as you're paying attention.
But as Angela said, there is so much more to our state than Perth. I can recommend that you check out Margaret River, Pemberton, Denmark and Albany down south, there are some beautiful places down there, especially the Tingle Forest. Absolutely Astonishing!!!
I hope you have fun over here, Linala! Good Luck!
