Question

How much pre-booking is required around Carnival?

I am in DESPERATE need of advice! im a 20 years old and traveling alone through south america.

While planning my trip i have just realised that i will be traveling down from Uyuni in Bolivia to Salta in Argentina and to Calma in Chile during Carnival. would it be wise to pre-book accommodation? and will tours and public transport be hard to find because of crowds and the public holiday?

Should i try and stay in one place for the entire carnival? or will moving from town to town and country to country be possible?

ADVICE PLEASE!!!

If you are primarily flying it would be best to make advanced arrangements. Wait too soon and those fares are out the roof. Also you have to cater for the carnival rush. People like us love our carnival and would take a week off to join the revelry.

If you plan on taking tours the carnival srush shouldn't affect prices as much but that depends on the vendor so you're better off making advance arrangements there too. Hope the advice helps.
