There are many ways to get around in Cambodia:

The easiest is to fly and by easy I mean the least painful but not necessarily the cheapest.

You can take a bus or small passenger van almost anywhere. There are also ways to rent a driver and vehicle. This is a good way to go if you don't want ride in a crowded bus. The best way to get this option is to ask the hotel or guesthouse manager the day before checkout.

Good Luck

Taken from Ian's Globetrekker visit to Cambodia, I recently read that to get from Phnom Penh to the coast requires an excruciating day by train, which moves very slowly and makes an interminable number of stops. Sounds like the previous recommendation is spot on.

depends on where u want to go.

PP to Siem Rep by bus $6-9, by river $25, by taxi $50 ( but can take 3 -4 people. by air about $80

Down to shik'ville b bus 3 hours or so $4 by train about the same but twice as long
overland to Thailand from PP by mini bus about $10

I travel mostly by river cause hate buses and if have 2 others renting a taxi is the ebst bet cause u can then stop along the way.
Never tried the trians in Cambodia.
